Panoramapunkt (Potsdamer Platz 1)

I had seen a number of adverts and leaflets about the Panoramapunkt at Potsdamerplatz and as my son finds the TV Tower a bit busy, I thought we would try out a different kind of viewing spot. The two level open (but caged in) viewing area at the top of Potsdamer Platz 1 office block gives you a great view towards the TV Tower and over towards Tiergarten and Templehof Airport. It wasn't a sunny day when we went but you could still see quite a distance.

Once you have paid your entrance fee, the viewing area is accessed by a lift that takes 20 seconds to travel to the top. The level that you exit the lift on allows views towards the East of the City and also has a great exhibition about the history of Potsdamer Platz. There is also a cafe on this floor which opens at 11am.

The second level is accessed by stairs close to the lift. Look for the sign for Sun Terrace (Sonnenterrace). This level runs around the whole perimeter of the building so you can get views of the whole city.

We arrived just as it opened at 10am and as it was a cloudy June morning, it wasn't very busy at all. I am not sure now busy it gets on sunnier days or further into the tourist season but it is great for the opposite views to the TV Tower and for us it was very toddler friendly.

Address: Potsdamer Platz 1, 10785 Berlin
