Kollwitz Platz is the epicentre of Prenzlauer Berg's nappy valley and the scale of the playground there reflects that. There are three sections aimed at different age groups with swings, slides, climbing frames and wooden creatures to climb on.
The park around the playground is a bit scrubby but a shady place to enjoy a picnic or a latte from one of the many cafes on the square. There are, of course, the ubiquitous ping pong tables that Berliners seem obsessed with.
There are many cafes and shops in the area aimed at affluent parents. A word of warning, the playgrounds get very busy in the afternoons and weekends, especially in the summer.
